Calling on Education majors in Oklahoma!

Posted by Alicia Murie on Monday, April 3, 2017, In : Activities
atbiscorner.yolasite.com otherwise known as TBI's Corner is in need of a serious revamping.  This is your chance to make your mark and help those who really need it in education.  Because while some side effects may not immediately appear they could make their appearance later on.  This is to better equip families of those living with TBI, TBI survivors themselves, as well as educators and yes employers.  We need to have something that can be used as a resource tool for others to go to.  If y...

Written by Joselyn Harris

Getting schools involved with TBI Raiders would not only beneficial to schools but also to students. Traumatic Brain Injury is a brain dysfunction caused by an outside-force such as a concussion. The case is common affecting 200,000 to 2 million people per year. I currently am getting my school involved mainly because my school is not familiar with TBI or really any disability. It is very important for students to understand that they have the chance to save people fr...

Future Blog Posts

Posted by Alicia Murie on Thursday, May 28, 2015, In : News
Future blog posts will be from the volunteers of TBI Raiders.  You will see articles in Spanish but there will be a link to the page where you can find the same article in English.  This is to reach out to those in the Spanish speaking community who may know little to no English.  This is to let them know TBI Raiders is here to help them to.  But just a heads up, I don't speak Spanish.  We have a volunteer who is fluent in the language and will be sending me the articles and I will post them ...

Let's get rolling ya'll!!!!!

Posted by Alicia Murie on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, In : Events
I made a couple of stops today to start getting ready for February.  You see for some locations, you need to give them like three weeks advance notice.  I stopped by the Career Center for the Army and Marine Corps to give them fliers for next month.  Then I stopped by four stores to get donations.  I received one t-shirt.  The manager at Catos is suppose to be calling me once she has their donations ready.  The lady with Hibbett Sports said she would put an order in and give me a call.  The p...

Oh jeez! lol

Posted by Alicia Murie on Saturday, March 15, 2014,
I seriously need to get back to updating the posts on here and pages on the websites regularly.  Well since the last post, the TBI Raiders Resolution I wrote became HR1046 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.  State Representative Emily Virgin sponsored the bill and I was able to speak after the bill was presented.  And honestly it wasn't nerve wracking as one would think it would be.  I was friends with some of them, I'm at the capitol often, and many/if not all of them are familiar wit...

Excitement!

Posted by Alicia Murie on Saturday, February 15, 2014, In : News
Last spring when I was attending Oklahoma State University, I decided to get involved in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature.  I was so happy that I did.  I started advocating on TBI when I started college back in August of '99.  I was a student leader at Rose State College and began to work with legislators and advocating to them about TBI.  I also was able to learn a lot from those leaders.  But still something was missing until I became involved in OIL.  Through this wonderful organiz...

Sorry I haven't posted an update in forever on here guys.  I started back to college in January and if everything goes right I will graduate in May of 2015.  I'm a political science major right now but once I get my GPA raised back up will be switching it back to a University Studies degree.  Once I am able to do that I will have 10 classes left in Political Science and 2 left in Health Promotion.  I am doing this so I can help those with disabilities get a bigger voice politically speaking.

Getting ready for the 31st

Posted by Alicia Payne on Monday, March 15, 2010,
I've been creating publications and updating others for the information session on the 31st.  I'm hoping many will attend the event.  Just like I'm extremely grateful for all the help the OSU Volunteer Services has been providing me in getting to this point.  Sometimes it has felt like a long 8 years since I created TBI Raiders.  But now since I have been at OSU, things really seem to be moving along like I had always wanted them to.  I'm learning so much at school.  And it is so fantastic to...
