Oh jeez! lol

March 15, 2014
I seriously need to get back to updating the posts on here and pages on the websites regularly.  Well since the last post, the TBI Raiders Resolution I wrote became HR1046 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.  State Representative Emily Virgin sponsored the bill and I was able to speak after the bill was presented.  And honestly it wasn't nerve wracking as one would think it would be.  I was friends with some of them, I'm at the capitol often, and many/if not all of them are familiar with the TBI advocating I've been doing.  Rep. Morrissette, I think that's who I spoke to, and I talked in the lounge.  I forgot how the conversation started out but when I spoke of going out to speak, he gave me some advice.  At first it started out him telling me to pretend I was talking to my grandkids, lol, then he told me was talking to family.

I had also traveled to my Alma Mater, Rose State College, to fill those I knew in on everything.  They were excited to hear the news.  When I was in President Webb's office, one of the ladies in there said she was going to tell 15th Street News, the student newspaper, and the school newspaper.  I stopped by the Vice President of Student Affairs' office.  I knew Dean Fisher back when I was in the college republicans club.  I shared the information so that way if the student senate wanted to become involved in it, they could.  Later, I don't exactly remember the day, I received a phone call from someone in the office wanting me to email him information so he could send it to the student senate.

Then I stopped by Oklahoma State University yesterday to speak with Vincent Burke.  He's the adviser for those who are political science majors.  I filled him in on everything and he said to send him an email so he could share it with the students who are political science majors.  Now next week is Spring Break then the following week is when Raiders Experience is suppose to go on.  Which I don't know if it will or not.

This summer I would love to do trainings on Raid Oklahoma and TBI Raiders Plan.  But one thing I did come to realize this month is how proud I am to be a graduate of Rose State College.  I learned how to be an effective leader and communicate with the state/congressional leaders during the time period I was a student leader on campus.

Excitement!

February 15, 2014
Last spring when I was attending Oklahoma State University, I decided to get involved in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature.  I was so happy that I did.  I started advocating on TBI when I started college back in August of '99.  I was a student leader at Rose State College and began to work with legislators and advocating to them about TBI.  I also was able to learn a lot from those leaders.  But still something was missing until I became involved in OIL.  Through this wonderful organiz...

Speaking Engagement and Celebration of Life Dinner

November 11, 2013
I will be speaking at Rose State College tomorrow at a meeting for the student senate.  This is very special for me.  Rose State not only is the place where I graduated with an Associates in Science but is also the place I really learned how to become a leader and where I came up with the idea to create TBI Raiders and get it started.  Fortunately there are still people there who not only remember me but remember that I created TBI Raiders there and ask about it.  This is where I really start...

Let's plan!!!

May 2, 2013
The following are projects I would like to have TBI Raiders do by (hopefully) the end of the year.
  • Find a good way to target it to high school students
  • Make an ad or well promote for me to go places to speak about Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI Raiders, and/or my recovery
  • Completely update all the websites
  • Establish TBI Raiders as a non-profit organization
  • Organize student organizations for TBI Raiders on college campuses

Busy busy

April 5, 2013
Sorry I haven't posted an update in forever on here guys.  I started back to college in January and if everything goes right I will graduate in May of 2015.  I'm a political science major right now but once I get my GPA raised back up will be switching it back to a University Studies degree.  Once I am able to do that I will have 10 classes left in Political Science and 2 left in Health Promotion.  I am doing this so I can help those with disabilities get a bigger voice politically speaking.

Writing feverishly at home

December 27, 2012
I may not have the internet up at home but in the meantime I have been writing up a literal storm.  I've been writing down ideas, people I need to contact starting January 3rd and what to do to make next semester a success so I end up making a 4.0.  I'm only taking two classes and plan on taking quite a few exercise classes.  It's been a major bruise to my ego that I haven't been able to make a 4.0 like I did growing up.  Below are some items I will need help with from volunteers for the 2013...

Time to get planning...

December 5, 2012
I know I haven't been updating the websites as much I used to and this is due to the fact that we don't have dsl at home yet.  I had one meeting with Joyce Montgomery on the 3rd.  Joyce is the Coordinator of the Service Learning Volunteer Center at Oklahoma State University.  I will be meeting next week with Oklahoma's People First and will also be attending the Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Network meeting.  Oklahoma's People First and TBI Raiders will be working together on a project.  It may be R...

I'm going to be amazed if I can think straight at the end of the month...lol

July 15, 2012
This is because next week I will be getting my wisdom teeth out, another tooth pulled, and some muscle shortened between two teeth.  Then the following week I will be moving.  Then the next month is when school starts back!  I have been creating new things that can be found on the TBI Raiders Online Store.  A friend who like me was a member of the Abled Disabled Association at Rose State College, has been creating some graphics then I have been coming up with logos.  I will be keeping informa...

Looking forward to 2012

December 28, 2011
I've told some that I'm close to but this is something I really believe.  This would be that 2012 is going to be the year for the Traumatic Brain Injury community...well at least in Oklahoma.  I'm going to be working my hardest at getting something started in the state to help Traumatic Brain Injury survivors.  Before anyone talks about funding, I'm in the process of looking at what some other states are doing.  I'll be speaking one program director on Thursday to see if we can get something ...

The form below is for those of you who would like to comment and want me, the director, to know what you think of the blog postings but don't want anyone else to see.  If there are things that are Traumatic Brain Injury related you would like to see a blog post on, let me know and I will see what I can do about getting it on here!
